Free GIF Graphics for your Web Pages

I created these tiny seamless GIF graphics - 0,1 to 0,5 KBytes - as backgrounds for tables.
GIF Graphics, in shades of grey - 50 to 230 Bytes only ! useful as a break line, lath, background for the table.

The colourful line above is actually a table ( 200 Bytes light ! ) with the following code:
<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" background="/libnew/lath/strip_up9.gif" height="9">
Do you want to have a thinner line ?
Place a transparent Gif inside the table - can be 1 pixel wide - and just as high as you wish.

Do you see my uppermost navigation bar or link lath on my pages ? Such a bar is 100 Bytes light !

You can try different heights than a given one and have new effects !
Use any paint program to colorize it.

META Tags Secrets

information about robots - and a collection of the META Tags for your web pages

Meta Tags contain various information about your web page, having no influence on how the page is displayed.
Meta Tags are needed for robots, crawlers, spiders, search engine programs which index your page, for browsers and servers in web.

Take and use what you need from the collection below. Content is the most important factor for your page placement in search engines.
Use Meta Tags to make the content visible; it is a way to help your page be more easily found on the web.

Since search engines logarythms differ from one to the other and often change, all the Tips are for the most important part of the service;
like the Yahoo Directory or Google. I believe this basic tips are good for all other spiders as well.

The Rule:
place meta tags between
<head> and </head> tags of your document, every tag appears as a single code line

Example for a proper coding sequence: the colour blue tells you to fill the place with your words and numbers

<html>
<head>
<title>Your Document's Essential Title</title>
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<meta http-equiv="content-language" content="en">
<meta name="robots" content="all">
<meta name="revisit-after" content="30 days">
<meta http-equiv="reply-to" content="your@mail">
<!-- other head contents -->
</head>
<body>
that's a place for all the documents and texts on your page
</body>
</html>

<title>Your Document Title</title>

this most important tag indicates the title of the page; use 3 to 5 words, up to 25 characters, 2-3 of the most important keywords

<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
where you decide which charset is used for a page:

"iso-8859-1" is for Western Latin 1 - English, German, French, Spanish, etc.,
"iso-8859-2" for Central European - Polish, Hungarian, Czech, etc.,
"iso-8859-5" for Cyrillic - Russian, Bulgarian, Ukranian, etc.,
etc.

<meta http-equiv="content-language" content="en">
where you tell the browser the default language of the page; a computer can read the text out loud for someone blind; "en" for English, "en-us" American English, "pl" Polish, "de" for German, "it" for Italian,
etc.

When you have two or more languages on your page - use the following Tag, here for English, Polish, German:

<meta http-equiv="content-language" content="en, pl, de">
but then you need to use an attribute "lang" in the description and keyword tags (examples below)

"lang=" belongs to  universal attributes in HTML

<meta name="description" content="Your Description, the subject of the Page.">

description tag should contain a maximum of 25 words, up to 150 characters, clear and concise;
appears when the search engine is displaying your URL address for someone searching the web, encouraging people to click on the link to your page;
very important tag for robots

some robots create the description of your page by looking for the first bold word;
you should place the title and heading directly on the page - not in a table!

an example for a page with 2 languages and an attribute "lang":
<meta name="description" lang="en" content="Your Description.">
<meta name="description" lang="de" content="Deine Beschreibung.">

<meta name="keywords" content="keyword, phrases of 2 or 3 words, keywords">

- use up to 25 keywords or phrases; consider that less is sometimes more;

- select keywords that precisely reflect the content of the page, appearing in the title, heading and in the main body of the text;

- proportion: make sure the keywords make up 4-8% of your text;

- use plurals, whenever possible; most people use plurals in their search;

- it is not important if you use commas, uppercase, lowercase or initial capitalisation or not
(use sporadically, for well known names, such as "Lord Buddha, Mercedes Benz");

an example for a page with 2 languages and an attribute "lang":
<meta name="keywords" lang="en" content="keyword, phrases, keywords">
<meta name="keywords" lang="de" content="Schlüsselwörte, Phrasen, und so weiter">
<meta name="robots" content="all">
where "all" invites the robot to index the page;

alternatively you can use:
<meta name="robots" content="noindex"> or
<meta name="robots" content="none">
where "noindex" or "none" means you prevent indexing

<meta name="robots" content="nofollow">
where you let the robot index this page and prevent it from following the links to other documents

<meta name="revisit-after" content="30 days">
where you invite the robot to revisit your page and check for changes after - in this case - 30 days,
which does not necessarily happen

<meta name="author" content="Your Name">
the tag informs people of the author's identity
<meta name="date" content="2003-07-22T">
used to indicate the date of creating the page - year, month, day
<meta name="copyright" content="Your Name">
used to tell the name of the copyright owner for the page
<meta http-equiv="reply-to" content="your@mailaddress">
the tag is used to tell your e-mail address, which makes replying possible
<meta http-equiv="window-target" content="_top">
the tag is used to force the browser to show your page at the top of the window,
when it appears in a frame of another page presenting yours
<meta name="classification" content="arts & humanities">
<meta name="distribution" content="global">
<meta name="rating" content="general">
<meta name="Identifier-URL" content="http://www.wisarts.com/index.html">
place your address instead of mine
<meta http-equiv="expires" content="0">
where you tell the server to command the browser to load this HTML file from an original server address

instead of "0" you can give a date and hour, after which the browser must load this HTML file from an original server address
<meta http-equiv="expires" content="Sat, 01 01 2002 12:00:00 GMT">

allowed names for the days: Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun
allowed names for the months: Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec
<meta http-equiv="pragma" content="no-cache">
the tag is used to tell the Proxy Agent not to keep the page in cache
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="23; URL=http://www.yourpage.net/yourpage2/">

the tag tells the browser to load another page in 23 seconds; here yourpage2
timeout "0" tells the browser to load the next page immediately

make sure you follow this unusual tag in all parts, changing only the timing and the address;
certain animations or comics are made with this tag

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="10">
this example of a client pull causes the page to be automatically reloaded on a regular 10 second basis

Note that META Tags are not suitable for your private notes. For all your private information, use a commentary:
<!-- Your commentary does not appear on a page; it is visible only in a Page Code.
This can be placed in the head or anywhere in your code to convey additional information -->

I hope all this will help you to obtain a good search ranking in the search engines.
